Ingredients
- 1 very large onion
- 3 tbsp butter
- 6 beef bouillon cubes dissolved in 6 cups of hot water
- fresh ground pepper
- dash of sherry (optional)
- French or Italian Bread
- Melting Cheese of your choice
Method
- Brown sliced onion in the butter until dark brown (caramel colored).
- Add fresh pepper to taste.
- Add beef bouillon.
- Simmer 1/2 hour, add dash of sherry if you would like.
- Toast bread slices dark - put one on each serving, add cheese and broil until cheese browns.
