Ingredients
- 1 large head cabbage
- 3/4 c. cooked rice
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 c. vinegar
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Method
- Drop cabbage into boiling water.
- Let stand until soft enough to separate leaves.
- Drain and cool to handle.
- Cut out stem and remove leaves. Combine beef, rice, eggs, onion and salt.
- Put about a tablespoon of mixture in center of each cabbage leaf. Roll leaf around meat and close up ends. Can use toothpicks to hold together. Place rolls together in a large pan. Combine vinegar, sugar, tomato sauce and enough water to cover the cabbage rolls.
- Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
