Ingredients
- 1 (16 oz.) can whole tomatoes
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 slice bread, crumbled
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. cold water
Method
- Place all ingredients, except butter, cornstarch and water, in a saucepan.
- Cook over medium-low heat for 20 minutes.
- Break up tomatoes with a spoon.
- Stir occasionally.
- Dissolve cornstarch in water and add to other ingredients.
- Let mixture thicken.
- Remove from heat and add butter.
- Serve hot or cold.
