Ingredients
- 2 c. milk, scalded
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 pkg. yeast (Red Star)
- 1/2 c. water (lukewarm)
- 5 to 6 c. flour, sifted
- 3 eggs, beaten well
Method
- Combine scalded milk, butter, sugar and salt.
- Cool to lukewarm. Soften yeast in lukewarm water. Stir and combine with cool milk mixture. Add beaten eggs.
- Add about half the flour. Beat well. Add enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Knead dough on floured board until smooth.
- Place dough in warm greased bowl.
- Brush with melted shortening. Cover and let rise 2 hours.
- On floured board, shape into rolls as desired.
- Place on a greased baking sheet.
- Let rise 45 to 60 minutes. Bake at 375° for 15 to 20 minutes.
