Ingredients
- 1 c. mashed potatoes
- 2 c. warm milk
- 3 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2/3 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. sugar
- oil for frying
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 pkg. yeast
Method
- Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup water.
- Mix potatoes and milk.
- Add flour salt, shortening and sugar.
- Add 3 more cups flour and knead.
- If needed, add 1 more cup flour.
- Let dough double itself, then roll out and cut with regular doughnut cutter.
- Let rise until twice their regular size.
- Cook in deep oil at 390°.
- Makes 4 dozen plus holes.
