Ingredients
- 4 c. sugar
- 2 c. water
- 1 c. apple cider or juice
- 2 Tbsp. cinnamon candies
- 1 tsp. whole cloves
- 8 Rome Beauty apples, cored and cut crosswise into 1/2-inch thick slices
Method
- In large saucepan, mix sugar, water, apple cider, cinnamon candies and cloves; heat to boiling.
- Reduce heat to low.
- Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
- Add apples slices; cook, turning occasionally, until apples are just tender, about 6 to 8 minutes. Spoon apples and liquid into jars; cover and refrigerate overnight for flavors to blend.
- Yields 5 pints.
