Ingredients

  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. (2 sticks) butter
  • 1/2 pt. (1 c.) sour cream
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 6 eggs, separated

Method

  • Cream butter and sugar thoroughly.
  • Add egg yolks one at a time.
  • Add soda to flour.
  • Alternately, add flour and sour cream to creamed mixture.
  • Beat egg whites stiff and fold into mixture. Don't add any flavoring.
  • Bake in large tube pan, which has been heavily greased and lined on bottom with brown paper, also greased.
  • Then flour pan carefully.
  • Bake at 275° for 2 hours. Turn out immediately.
