Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. water
- 3/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1/2 c. molasses
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice
Method
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Blend in remaining ingredients.
- Cover.
- Refrigerate2-3 hrs.
- Heat oven to 375 degrees.
- Roll dough 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured cloth-covered board.
- Cut into desired shapes.
- Place on ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake 10-12 min.
- Immediately remove from baking sheet.
- Cold.
- Use pastry or possibly basting brush to brush excess flour off back of cookie.
- Decorate as desired.
