Ingredients

  • 14 cup baking cocoa
  • 12 cup vegetable oil (or 1/4 cup oil plus 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 34 cup all-purpose flour
  • 18 teaspoon salt
  • 12 cup chopped walnuts
  • 12 cup milk chocolate chips or 12 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or 12 cup dark chocolate chips

Method

  • In a small bowl, combine cocoa, applesauce and oil until smooth.
  • In another bowl, beat eggs.
  • Add the sugar, vanilla and cocoa mixture.
  • Stir in flour and salt just until moistened.
  • Fold in walnuts.
  • Pour into a greased 8-in.
  • square baking pan; sprinkle with chocolate chips.
  • Bake at 325 for 25-30 minutes.
  • Cool on a wire rack.
  • Yield: 16 brownies.
