Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 sticks butter (8 oz.)
  • 1 medium egg yolk

Method

  • Mix together 2 1/4 cups flour with sugar; cut in butter as for pastry.
  • Bind together with egg yolk.
  • Knead lightly using other 1/4 cup flour as needed.
  • Divide into 4 portions.
  • Roll each one out to a 1/2-inch circle.
  • Score edges and prick center with fork. Mark into wedges with knife going down 1/8-inch.
  • Bake at 350° for approximately 30 minutes; let cool 5 minutes before removing from cookie sheet.
