Ingredients

  • 5 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 2 1/2 c. milk
  • 3/4 c. shredded cheese
  • 1/2 c. chopped onions
  • salt and pepper
  • dash of sugar

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • To make sauce, cook onions in butter until tender.
  • Stir in flour, salt and pepper.
  • Add milk and cook until thickened and bubbly.
  • Layer 1/2 potatoes and pour half sauce over and repeat layers and remainder of sauce.
  • Place in a greased casserole dish.
  • Bake, covered, 45 minutes, stirring once. Uncover and bake 30 minutes or until potatoes are cooked.
