Ingredients

  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 4 c. sifted all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 3 eggs

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350° 10 minutes before baking.
  • Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  • Heat milk, shortening and water to very warm.
  • Blend 1 1/3 cups flour with sugar, salt and dry yeast in large bowl.
  • Blend warm liquids into flour at medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Add 2/3 cup remaining flour and eggs and beat at high speed for 2 minutes.
  • Add rest of flour and mix well.
  • Cover and let rise until double, about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • Punch down and turn into prepared pan.
  • Cover and let rise about 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes.
