Ingredients

  • 14 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/3 - 1/2 pound ground chicken
  • About 3/4 cup water
  • Light sprinkling of
  • a. garlic powder
  • b. oregano
  • c. onion powder
  • d. crushed red pepper
  • e. salt
  • f. pepper
  • 15 fennel seeds
  • 1/3 cup basil or about 1 tsp of basil paste
  • Rigatoni, campanelle or penne works well for this sauce

Method

  • 1. Cook ground chicken in skillet
  • 2. Set aside the basil and combine remaining ingredients including water with the chicken and bring to a boil.
  • 3. Turn heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Add additional water if sauce gets too thick
  • 4. Start boiling water and cook pasta
  • 5. Combine basil with the ground chicken tomato sauce for last 5 minutes or so
  • 6. Top with parmesan and serve
