- 14 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 1/3 - 1/2 pound ground chicken
- About 3/4 cup water
- Light sprinkling of
- a. garlic powder
- b. oregano
- c. onion powder
- d. crushed red pepper
- e. salt
- f. pepper
- 15 fennel seeds
- 1/3 cup basil or about 1 tsp of basil paste
- Rigatoni, campanelle or penne works well for this sauce
Method
- 1. Cook ground chicken in skillet
- 2. Set aside the basil and combine remaining ingredients including water with the chicken and bring to a boil.
- 3. Turn heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Add additional water if sauce gets too thick
- 4. Start boiling water and cook pasta
- 5. Combine basil with the ground chicken tomato sauce for last 5 minutes or so
- 6. Top with parmesan and serve
