Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 c. dry bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. minced onion
- 1/4 c. finely chopped celery
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 c. water
Method
- Combine everything except soup and water and shape into an oval patty about 1-inch thick.
- Using a small amount of butter, brown on both sides in a skillet.
- Combine soup and water and pour around meat.
- Cook slowly in covered skillet for 25 minutes.
- If desired, put boiled potatoes around meat.
- Soup and meat juices will make the gravy without further thickening.
