Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 head red leaf lettuce, torn
  • 1 head romaine lettuce, torn
  • 6 radishes, thinly sliced
  • 2 carrots, grated
  • 2 Kirby cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • Kosher salt

Method

  • Make the dressing: Whisk the mayonnaise, buttermilk, vinegar, onion powder, chives, parsley, garlic, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper in a small bowl; set aside.
  • Make the salad: Put the red onion in a bowl and cover with cold water; let soak 10 minutes, then drain.
  • Combine the lettuce in a large bowl and add the radishes, carrots, cucumbers, bell pepper and red onion.
  • Toss with the dressing and season with salt.
