- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1/2 c. scalded milk
- 3/4 c. white sugar
- 1/4 c. melted margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. ground cardamon
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 c. glazed mixed fruit
- 1/2 c. glazed cherries
- 6 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. powdered sugar
- 5 tsp. lemon juice
- candy Easter eggs or cherries
Method
- Sprinkle yeast onto warm water.
- Dissolve.
- In large bowl, combine milk, sugar, margarine, vanilla, cardamon and salt.
- Add yeast, then eggs, stirring until well blended.
- Add glazed fruit, then gradually beat in flour.
- Turn onto floured board and knead until smooth and satiny.
- Place in greased bowl, cover with towel and let rise in warm place until doubled in size, about 2 hours. Punch down dough.
- Divide into 2 or 4 sections; place each into a well-greased can.
- Cover and let rise until doubled in size again.
