Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. hot water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 5 1/4 c. unsifted flour

Method

  • Mix hot water, sugar, salt and butter together.
  • Cool to lukewarm.
  • Pour warm water in large bowl.
  • Sprinkle in yeast. Stir until dissolved.
  • Stir in lukewarm water mixture, egg and 1/2 flour.
  • Beat with mixer until smooth.
  • Stir in by hand the remaining dough to make soft dough.
  • Turn out on lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.
