Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. nuts
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder

Method

  • Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and beat well.
  • Add vanilla and nuts.
  • Add sifted dry ingredients; mix well and shape into rolls, 1 1/2-inches in diameter.
  • Roll in waxed paper.
  • Chill several hours or overnight.
  • Slice thin.
  • Bake on greased cookie sheet in hot oven (425°) until light brown.
