Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 lb. red onions, sliced and separated into rings
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. ground white pepper

Method

  • In large skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
  • Add onions and saute 6 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook onions 15 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper into onions.
  • Cook 5 minutes longer or until mixed.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm or at room temperature.
