Ingredients
- 1 head red cabbage (about 2 lb.)
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. red table wine
- 6 apples, pared and sliced
- 1/4 c. vinegar
- 1/4 c. white sugar
- pinch of cayenne pepper
Method
- Place ingredients in a heavy pot which has a cover.
- Simmer over low heat for about 2 hours.
- The long cooking may be hard on the vitamins, but it is marvelous for the taste.
