Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes, cut in 1/2-inch slices
- 1 large carrot, sliced
- 4 (1/2-inch thick) pork chops
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 envelope dry onion soup mix (1/4 c.)
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
Method
- Place potatoes and carrots in bottom of an 11 x 7 1/2 x 1 3/4-inch dish.
- Trim fat from steaks.
- In large skillet, cook trimmings until there are about 2 tablespoons oil; discard trimmings.
- In hot oil, brown steaks well on both sides.
- In a small pan, combine water, onion soup mix and soy sauce; bring to boiling.
- Spoon half soup mix over potatoes and carrots; top with steaks.
- Spoon remaining soup mixture over steaks.
- Cover and bake in a 350° oven for 1 hour.
- Uncover and bake 10 minutes more. Makes 4 servings.
