- 3 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 2 sticks oleo
- 3 c. flour (sift three times)
- 1 small can Carnation milk (add water to make 1 cup)
- 5 eggs
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. vanilla butternut flavoring (McCormick flavoring)
- 1 c. nuts
- 1 (10 oz.) maraschino cherries, cut in half
Method
- Cream Crisco, oleo and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each time.
- Add flour alternately with milk, ending with flour.
- Add flavoring, nuts and cherries.
- (Cherries should be well drained and rolled in flour.)
- Bake in greased tube pan.
- Bake 1 hour and 45 minutes at 325°.
- Cake should start in cold oven.
