Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 egg
- 1 c. milk
- 2 c. flour, sifted with 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. pitted tart cherries
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 c. boiling water
Method
- Mix the first 7 ingredients like cake batter and put in a buttered 9 x 9-inch cake pan.
- Mix sugar and cherries well.
- Put on top of batter.
- Pour boiling water over top of cherries.
- Bake at 300° for 1 hour.
- Serve with whipped cream.
