Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 c. raisins (optional)
  • 1 c. pureed persimmon pulp
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. raisins (optional)
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts

Method

  • Cream sugar and margarine together; beat in egg.
  • Sift flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves together.
  • Stir in nuts and raisins. Puree persimmon pulp until smooth and stir in baking soda.
  • Add persimmon mixture and dry ingredients alternately to creamed margarine and sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition. Drop by heaping teaspoonful on greased baking sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
  • Makes about 2 dozen.
