Ingredients

  • 2 c. shelled, raw peanuts
  • 3/4 c. white corn syrup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 inch paraffin wax
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Cook sugar, syrup, water and wax in a saucepan until it spins a thread. Add peanuts; stir. Cook until syrup is amber color, stirring constantly. When peanuts smell parched and temperature reaches 300°, remove from heat. Add vanilla and butter. Rapidly stir in soda and salt. Pour on greased cookie sheet. Spread with spoon. Cool and break into pieces.
