Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 lb. beef, cut in cubes
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 (10 1/2 oz.) cans tomato soup
- 1 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 tsp. basil, chopped
- 4 medium potatoes, cubed
- 4 medium carrots
- 1/2 c. red wine or water
Method
- Combine flour and salt; coat meat.
- Brown in hot shortening. Add soup, 2 1/2 cups water, onion and basil.
- Cover and bake about 1 hour in a 370° oven.
- Add potatoes, carrots and wine; bake 1 hour longer.
