Ingredients
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. flour
- 4 eggs, separated
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 35 to 40 vanilla wafers
- 5 or 6 bananas
- dash of salt
Method
- Reserve 1 banana and 10 to 12 wafers for garnish.
- Cook 1/2 cup sugar, flour and salt in top of double boiler.
- Stir in 4 egg yolks and milk.
- Cook, uncovered, in a 1 1/2-quart casserole. Cover with wafers and sliced bananas.
- Make 3 layers of each. Pour milk and egg mixture over bananas.
- Beat egg whites; add 1/4 cup sugar.
- Spread on top.
- Bake at 425° for 5 minutes, until brown.
- Serve with wafers and sliced bananas.
