Ingredients
- 1 lb. dates
- 1 lb. candy orange slices
- 2 c. pecans
- 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. margarine
- 1 can coconut
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. baking soda
Method
- Prepare dates, candy and nuts by cutting up into fine pieces and rolling in a portion of flour.
- Mix well together margarine with sugar; add eggs, one at a time, blending well.
- Add buttermilk.
- Sift remaining flour with soda and add to mixture. Fold in chopped dates, nuts and orange slices.
- Bake in a well-greased and floured tube pan.
- Bake for 3 hours at 250°.
- Let set in pan for 5 minutes.
- Remove from pan and glaze.
