Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk or 1 1/2 c. milk with 1 1/2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. cooking oil
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Method
- Preheat oven to 425°.
- Dissolve yeast in water and let set. Combine buttermilk (or milk and lemon juice mixture), sugar, oil and salt.
- Sift flour and soda in a large bowl.
- Mix yeast with buttermilk mixture and add to flour.
- Let stand 10 minutes.
