Ingredients

  • 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 3 Tbsp. cold water

Method

  • Sift flour and salt together.
  • Cut in shortening, using 2 knives or pastry blended until size of small peas.
  • Sprinkle water over mixture, while tossing gently with fork, until particles stick together.
  • For ease in rolling out pastry, wrap dough in waxed paper and allow to chill in refrigerator.
  • Lightly roll pastry into circle 1-inch larger than pie plate.
  • Lift loosely into pie plate.
  • Pat out air.
  • Fold edges under and crimp.
