Ingredients

  • 1 c. margarine, softened
  • 1 c. confectioners sugar
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. oil
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. grated lemon peel
  • 4 1/4 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • colored sugar (for decoration)

Method

  • Combine butter and sugars.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time.
  • Add oil, vanilla and lemon peel.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and beat until well blended.
  • Wrap and chill dough for several hours.
