Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 2 c. oatmeal

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • In a small bowl combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; set aside.
  • In large mixing bowl, combine shortening, brown sugar, sugar and vanilla.
  • Beat until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
  • Gradually beat in flour mixture.
  • Stir in chocolate morsels and oatmeal. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake 8 minutes.
