Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 5 eggs
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Cook sugar and water until light brown.
  • Pour immediately into pan which is at least 2 inches deep and 8 inches wide.
  • Cool. Blend flan ingredients in blender or food processor until no lumps.
  • Pour into cooled flan pan.
  • Put this into a larger pan with water in it about halfway up on smaller flan pan.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool and unmold or serve from pan.
