- 2 cans (10 oz. each) black-eyed peas
- 1 (14 oz.) can chicken broth
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomatoes and green chilies or tomatoes
- 1/2 c. catsup
- 2 ribs chopped celery
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/2 c. chopped bell pepper
- 2 cloves chopped garlic
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Method
- Mash peas from one can.
- Combine all ingredients in large stew pot and cook on low heat for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Serve hot with sour dough bread anytime, but for "good luck" on New Year's Day. Makes 6 servings.
