- 1 large head cabbage
- 2 Tbsp. fat
- 2 onions, sliced
- 3 c. canned tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 2 lb. beef bones
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 3 Tbsp. uncooked rice
- 1/4 c. grated onion
- 1 egg
- 3 Tbsp. water (cold)
- 3 Tbsp. honey
- 1/4 c. lemon juice
- 1/4 c. seedless raisins
Method
- Place the cabbage in a kettle and add boiling water to cover. Let soak 15 minutes and drain.
- Carefully remove 12 large leaves or if the leaves are too small, use 18.
- Heat the fat in a large deep saucepan or casserole.
- Add sliced onions and cook, stirring, until golden.
- Add tomatoes, 1/2 salt, 1/2 pepper and bones. Simmer 30 minutes.
