Ingredients

  • double pie crust
  • deep fat
  • stewed (dried fruit) apples
  • sugar to taste
  • nutmeg or cinnamon to taste

Method

  • Roll crust on a floured board.
  • Cut with a large cookie cutter.
  • Put 1 1/2 tablespoons sweetened, mashed, cooked fruit in each round.
  • Moisten edges with cold water and fold to make semi-circle; press edges together with a fork.
  • Fry in hot deep fat and drain well on paper towels when crispy brown.
  • Great on cold winter days or just anytime.
