Ingredients

  • 1 qt. milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda

Method

  • Scald (not
  • boil)
  • milk,
  • sugar
  • and Crisco, then cool. Mix yeast
  • and
  • remaining
  • milk, sugar and Crisco mixture with flour. Set aside
  • and
  • let
  • rise 2 hours.
  • After 2 hours, add salt, baking powder and soda.
  • Mix more flour to knead.
  • Knead on board. Chill in refrigerator about 2 hours.
  • When ready to use, roll out.
  • Let
  • rise
  • and bake at 325° for about 35 to 40 minutes.
