Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. flour
- 2 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. cocoa
- 2 egg yolks (reserve whites for meringue)
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 deep dish pie shell, baked and cooled
Method
- Combine all ingredients except butter and pie shell. Cook in microwave at 2 minute intervals, stirring each time; usually takes about 8 minutes, depending on oven wattage.
- When it becomes thick, add butter.
- Stir until melted.
- Pour in prepared pie shell.
- Cool for meringue.
- Beat egg whites until stiff. Add 6 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar.
- Beat well. Put on pie.
- Put back in oven at 400° and lightly brown. Cool Whip can be used instead of meringue.
