Ingredients

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 6 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch

Method

  • In medium bowl, beat the egg whites, vanilla and cream of tartar at medium speed about 1 minute or until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar about 1 tablespoon at a time, beating at high speed with mixer for about 4 minutes more or until soft glossy peaks and sugar is dissolved.
  • Spread immediately over pie carefully, sealing to edge of pastry to prevent shrinkage.
  • Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes to brown.
