- 1 1/2 lbs round steaks
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 onions, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 1/2 cups chopped skinned tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 bay leaf, crushed
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- black pepper
- 1 lb boiled spaghetti
- parmesan cheese, grated
Method
- Cut the beef into 1 inch cubes and brown in hot oil on all sides. Lift out and set aside.
- Saute the onions and garlic in the pan until soft, add tomatoes, tomato paste, wine, bay lead, cloves, sugar, saly and pepper, return the beef to the pan and cover.
- Simmer for 1 1/2 hours.
- Serve with the boiled spaghetti and sprinkle with grated cheese.
