Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. white Karo syrup
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. water
- 2 c. raw peanuts (Spanish)
Method
- Mix soda and salt together; set aside.
- Combine sugar, water and syrup; bring to a boil.
- Stir in peanuts gradually so as not to lose the boil.
- Keep a rolling boil until peanuts pop and turn brown (309° on a candy thermometer).
- Add soda and salt; stir well. Pour onto a well-greased cookie sheet.
- Put cookie sheet on trivet so air can get under it.
- When cold, break into pieces.
