Ingredients

  • 12 cup flour
  • 12 cup brown sugar
  • 14 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter, cut into small pieces
  • 13 cup old fashioned oats
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 4 medium gala apples

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and lightly grease an 8x8 glass dish.
  • In a bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, and salt.
  • Cut in butter until crumbly.
  • Stir in oats and maple syrup.
  • Core the apples and cut off the end (I do this on the bottom because apples tend to sit better and more even on their tops).
  • Slice an inch piece off the core and use it as a cork to plug the apple.
  • Place the apples in the dish.
  • Fill the apples with the mix and cover with foil.
  • Bake 45 minutes.
  • Remove foil and continue baking until the apples are tender and filling is light brown, about 15 minutes.
  • Let cool and eat warm or cold.
