Ingredients

  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Method

  • Shortening or margarine should be at room temperature.
  • Put all ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Beat on low speed until ingredients are blended.
  • Then beat on medium for 10 minutes. Pour into a sprayed tube or Bundt pan.
  • Bake at 325° for 1 hour. Test for doneness with finger.
  • If no depression is left, it is done.
