Ingredients
- 3 egg yolks
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 c. milk
- vanilla extract
Method
- In stainless steel or heatproof glass bowl or top of double boiler, beat egg yolks and sugar together until thick and creamy. In a saucepan, scald 1 cup milk, add vanilla and pour over the eggs; mix well.
- Stir slowly and continually over a saucepan of simmering water until thickened slightly, about 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat, pour in remaining milk; cool.
- Pour into ice cream canister.
- Freeze in maker according to directions.
- Makes 4 to 6 servings.
- May double recipe.
