Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted cake flour
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (pecans and black walnuts)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup salad oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 12 cups sugar
  • 34 cup buttermilk
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 14 cup butter

Method

  • Sift a little flour over raisins and nuts.
  • Combine rest of flour with other dry ingredients in mixing bowl.
  • Add salad oil, buttermilk, eggs and sugar, beat until smooth.
  • Stir in nuts and raisins.
  • Pour into floured and greased tube pan.
  • Bake at 350F for 1 hour.
  • Topping: Combine ingredients.
  • Heat untill bubbly.
  • Pour over hot cake right from the oven and do not remove from pan until cool.
