Ingredients

  • 1 cabbage, coarsely grated
  • 1 carrot, finely grated
  • 1 sweet onion, minced
  • 3 scallions, minced
  • 1 dill pickle, minced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 18 cup pickle juice
  • 18 cup cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 12 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

Method

  • For the slaw.
  • Combine the cabbage carrot, onions and dill pickle in a large bowl.
  • For the dressing.
  • Whisk together the mayo and buttermilk.
  • USE ONLY MAYO.
  • Don't use salad dressing or other substitute.
  • Pulverize the garlic with 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
  • Add the garlic and remaining ingredients and wisk until it's uniform.
  • Pour over the cabbage mixture and incorporate.
  • Let the mixture sit in the fridge overnight to allow time for the flavors to meld with each other.
