Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. butter or 2 sticks margarine
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon extract
- 6 eggs
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 c. sweet milk
Method
- Cream the butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and lemon extract; blend well.
- Add eggs, one at a time; continue beating after each addition.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
- Add flour mixture and milk alternately to creamed mixture; beat well.
- Pour into large greased and floured tube pan.
- Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours, depending on your oven, until cake tests done.
- (Suggest testing with toothpick after 1 hour and 15 minutes).
