Ingredients

  • 8 oz yogurt
  • 1/3 C peeled
  • seeded and chopped cucumber
  • 2 TBSP grated peeled onion
  • 1 Clove garlic crushed
  • 1 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp ground black pepper 4 pita pockets
  • 1 medium onion sliced thin
  • 1 medium tomato sliced thin

Method

  • Mix yogurt, cucumber, grated onion, first garlic clove and sugar in mixing bowl and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 mins.
  • In a large bowl, mix lamb, remaining garlic and seasonings and shape into 2 large patties and broil until cooked through. Carve each into slices and serve in pita with onions, tomatoes and yogurt sauce.
