Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 can (1 lb.) Hershey's Chocolate Syrup
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 350F.
  • Mix the butter and the sugar in large mixing bowl for 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Add those 4 eggs, one at a time.
  • Beat the mix good after you put in each egg.
  • Now sift the flour, salt and baking powder.
  • Mix the flour mixture in with the chocolate syrup, and add the vanilla.
  • Spread the batter in a buttered and floured 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Cook the cake for 35 minutes.
  • Check from time to time towards the end.
  • Once the center firms up, it's done.
  • Take out and let cool.
  • Frosting: Put butter, sugar and milk in a small saucepan.
  • Stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
  • This shouldn't take longer than about 3 minutes.
  • Take it off the heat and add chocolate chips.
  • Stir until it smooth.
  • Spread over the top of the warm cake.
