Ingredients
- 3/4 c. butter
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 whole eggs
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1/2 c. sour milk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. cake flour
Method
- Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and beat.
- Add boiling water to cocoa, then add to sugar and butter mixture.
- Then vanilla and flour.
- Put soda in sour milk or clabber and stir well.
- Add last to first mixture.
- Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- Use a bit of flour and cocoa so as not to leave a white crust.
- Bake in a 350° oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from center.
- Ice with a chocolate icing.
